Czech officials express shock and condemnation over terrorist attack in Magdeburg

Czech officials have expressed shock and condemnation over the terrorist attack in Magdeburg, Germany, on Friday night in which a Saudi Arabian national drove his car into a crowd at a Christmas market killing four people and injuring scores of others.

"I strongly condemn the brutal terrorist attack at the Christmas market in Magdeburg" Prime Minister Fiala wrote on the X network, adding that his thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the victims of the tragedy.

The head of Czech diplomacy, Jan Lipavsky, wrote that he was deeply shaken by the tragedy in Magdeburg. "My thoughts are with our German friends, relatives of the victims and injured at this difficult time” he added.

The Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it had no information so far as to whether Czech nationals had been killed or injured in the attack.
