Hundreds of fish killed by pollution on Odra River

The Czech Environmental Inspectorate is investigating an incident in which hundreds of fish along a stretch of the Odra River in the eastern part of the country were killed by poisoning from an as yet unknown substance. Fishermen discovered hundreds of dead fish floating near the confluence of the Odra River and Černý Potok on Tuesday and alerted the Odra River Basin Authority to the problem. Firefighters installed precautionary barriers and water samples are being tested to ascertain the source of the pollution.
