Prague to acquire Žižkov freight station for CZK 1.43 billion

Prague will purchase the Žižkov Freight Station building and adjacent land from Czech Railways (ČD) for CZK 1.43 billion, including VAT, the city councillors approved on Thursday.

The city plans to renovate the listed building into a hub with cultural facilities, a school campus, apartments, and offices. The deal also includes land for a tram line connecting the new district to public transport.

A new district for up to 15,000 residents is under construction around the station. According to Prague finance councillor Zdeněk Kovářík, the renovated station will host public amenities and generate city revenue through commercial leases.
