Voice of Ukraine points to UN failure to defend human rights in Ukraine

The Czech-Ukrainian initiative “Voice of Ukraine” placed a twenty-five-metre-long carpet in front of the UN Information Centre in Prague on Tuesday, to draw attention to human rights violations in the Russian-occupied parts of Ukraine. The installation, titled "Carpet of trampled human rights" was put down on International Human Rights Day as criticism of how little the UN was doing to defend those rights in Ukraine. "The UN was created to defend human rights and prevent war. It does neither of these in the occupied territories," Julie Levkova, one of the organisers of the event, told the Czech News Agency. She said the organisation is paralysed by Russia's presence on the UN Security Council and is failing in its function.
