Czechia submits request to EU for flood recovery funds
Czechia has formally requested up to CZK 2.85 billion from the EU Solidarity Fund to cover damages from September floods, Finance Minister Zbyněk Stanjura (Civic Democratic Party) announced. The funds, expected by late 2025 or 2026, are not included in next year's budget. The floods caused CZK 70.6 billion in damages, primarily in the Moravian-Silesian and Olomouc regions. About CZK 25 billion affects private property, while CZK 45 billion pertains to state and municipal assets. Insurance payouts are estimated at CZK 20 billion, Stanjura added.
