ANO party senators want to extend number of professions in which people could retire early

Senators for the opposition ANO party will propose that the possibility of early retirement without penalty be extended to more employees in demanding professions when the house debates the government’s pension reform on Wednesday, head of the ANO senators’ club Jana Mračková Vildumetzová, said after a meeting with trade unions. Within the conditions approved by the Chamber of Deputies, about 15,000 people employed in high-risk professions will be able to retire early without losing money. The original proposal was for the high-risk professions to encompass more than 127,000 people but that was abandoned in favour of a slower increase in the retirement age, which will be capped a 67.

Although some senators from the ruling parties have voiced reservations to certain aspects of the reform, it is expected to pass smoothly through the upper chamber thanks to ruling coalition’s majority in the Senate.
