MPs to vote on 2025 budget with CZK 241bn deficit
The Czech Chamber of Deputies will vote on Tuesday on the proposed 2025 state budget, which envisages a CZK 241 billion deficit. MPs will first decide on reallocating CZK 224 billion within the budget, with most changes suggested by opposition lawmakers. Budgets for state funds, including the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure, will also be reviewed. The government aims to reduce the deficit by CZK 41 billion compared to this year, with revenues increasing by CZK 146 billion and expenditures by CZK 105 billion. The budget prioritizes fiscal consolidation, investments, and flood recovery while maintaining social peace. With a coalition majority, the budget is expected to pass despite opposition criticism of its feasibility.
