Flu cases rise among preschoolers and seniors in Czechia
Czechia is seeing a slight increase in flu cases among preschoolers and seniors, despite an overall 2.2% decline in acute respiratory infections, according to the National Institute of Public Health (SZÚ). The infection rate stands at 1,456 per 100,000 people, typical for this time of year. The highest infection rates are in the South Moravian Region, with flu viruses still relatively rare compared to other respiratory pathogens. Since September, over 292,000 people have been vaccinated against COVID-19, and 670,000 against flu, though Czech vaccination rates remain lower than in Western Europe.
