According to the Association of Driving Schools, the change of legislation that allowed 17-year-olds to drive under the supervision of a mentor has proved successful. There were almost 18,000 young drivers under the age of 18 on the roads this year and according to police statistics, they only caused 8 accidents. Meanwhile young drivers over-18 caused 400 accidents during the same period. The most frequent cause of accidents on Czech roads is speeding, drink-driving and inattention.

According to police statistics 36 people died in traffic accidents in Czechia in November, which is seven more than in the same month last year. Since the beginning of the year, accidents have claimed 407 lives in the Czech Republic. Last year 455 people died on Czech roads, the second lowest number since 1961.
