Pavel tells Trump: Czechia recognizes that NATO membership comes with responsibilities
Czech President Petr Pavel sent a congratulatory letter to U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, in which he emphasized that Czechia is aware of the fact that NATO membership comes with responsibilities. Pavel expressed Czechia's readiness to strengthen cooperation with the U.S. in defense, cybersecurity, and energy. He highlighted the importance of transatlantic ties for global stability and prosperity.
Pavel noted Czechia’s efforts since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, including increased defense spending and support for Ukraine. He warned of the global impact of developments in Eastern Europe and shared concerns over preserving stability in the Taiwan Strait and South China Sea. “Clear transatlantic unity strengthens global stability,” he wrote, expressing hope for future cooperation.
