Czech PM Fiala to address COP29, calls for realistic climate targets
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala is set to speak at the UN COP29 climate conference in Baku on Wednesday, emphasizing the need for achievable and balanced climate targets. Speaking to journalists ahead of his speech, Fiala has highlighted that Europe cannot shoulder climate responsibilities alone and stressed that climate action should not undermine economic growth, competitiveness, or citizens' standards of living. He also cautioned against climate goals that risk Europe’s competitiveness and future prosperity.
The two-day summit of heads of state wraps up on Wednesday, while the broader two-week conference will continue discussions, focusing on financial support for developing countries.
