Czech hotels and guesthouses almost at full capacity for long weekend
Accommodation facilities in Czechia are filling up over the long weekend, Czech Television reports. The Czech Hotel Association says it is experiencing an increase of almost 15 percent in demand for accommodation compared to this period last year.
The most popular locations are in South Moravia, thanks to the ongoing grape harvest and associated wine season, and in the Czech mountains. The Czech Tourism agency estimates that commercial accommodation capacities in South Moravia are up to 80 percent full.
Many Czechs are taking advantage of the fact that Czech Statehood Day, a public holiday, falls on a Thursday this year, by taking Friday off as well in order to spend an extended four-day weekend away. In addition, there are also state holidays in Germany during this period, which is further having an impact on the availability of accommodation.
