Some 240 people took a special train ride from Prague to Berlin via Dresden on Saturday to attend the annual Bürgerfest, celebrating civil society and voluntary work, which takes place at the official residence of the German President in Berlin.
The train ride is organised by the United Islands of Prague festival and the Czech-German Fund for the Future, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The carriages of the train, which departed from Prague capital at around 8 a.m., serve as artistic stages featuring literary, musical and theatrical performances.
Czechia, along with the German state of Thuringia, has been chosen as one of the partner countries at this year’s Citizen’s Festival. Among the organisations showcasing the country is the Czech Embassy in Berlin, the Budějovický Budvar brewery as well as the German section of Radio Prague International.
