Psychiatrist Cimický facing new charges of rape and extortion

One of the country’s leading psychiatrists, Jan Cimický, has been charged with four counts of rape and 35 counts of extortion. The cases relate to his former patients, with close to thirty women accusing him of sexual harassment or assault. Prosecutors originally proposed pressing charges against Cimický last October, when they accused him of multiple rape and extortion. But the prosecutor's office returned the case to police for further investigation a month later, pointing out that some of the cases were time-barred. The police proposed filing new charges in June of this year. The psychiatrist has retained his private practice throughout that time.
