Czech man accused of billions in credit fraud extradited from Greece
A Czech man accused of billions of crowns of credit fraud has been extradited from Greece to the Czech Republic for sentencing, the Czech News Agency reported on Saturday. He had been arrested by the Greek police on a yacht near the island of Corfu at the end of July, after a warrant was issued for his arrest and it was discovered that he was hiding abroad. After spending three weeks in Greek custody, the man is now in a police cell in Prague.
The identity of the suspect has not been revealed, but news site Seznam Zprávy speculates that it is 63-year-old Jiří Lišek, who was charged with credit fraud in a case relating to the Metropolitan Savings Association.
