Eight children injured in observation tower collapse

Eight children attending a summer camp and one adult in charge of them fell from an observation tower near Markvartice, in North Bohemia. Four of the children were seriously injured and airlifted to hospitals nearby. The other four children suffered lighter injuries.

According to the local deputy mayor, the lookout platform collapsed because it was severely overloaded. He said it was intended for a maximum four people and there were 15 people on it at the time of the crash. Police are investigating possible negligence.
