Report: Zeman office chief removed items from Castle store of gifts

When Miloš Zeman was president his head of office, Vratislav Mynář, removed jewellery and other valuable items from Prague Castle’s store of gifts worth roughly half a million crowns, Seznam Zprávy reported on Tuesday. There is no documentation showing where the items subsequently ended up, the news site said.

Mr. Mynář’s subordinates bought more than CZK 23 million worth of items from public funds for the collection of gifts, which was almost empty when Petr Pavel took office, Seznam Zprávy said.

Unlike gifts handed out by President Zeman himself, there is no record of the recipients of items issued to Mr. Mynář, it added.
