Two FAMU shorts to compete at Cannes

Two shorts from Prague’s FAMU film school will compete in the La Cinef section at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival, which takes place in May. Czechia will be represented in the competition by Electra by Daria Kascheeva and Eighth Day by Petr Pylypčuk.

Ms. Kascheeva, a post-graduate student at FAMU, enjoyed success with her previous animated short Daughter, which won a Student Oscar in 2019.

Electra also features animation and is inspired by Greek mythology. Eighth Day is a short drama.
