Lety memorial to Roma and Sinti Holocaust victims to cost CZK 100m

A memorial to victims of the Holocaust of the Roma and Sinti people in South Bohemia will cost almost CZK 100 million. The memorial is set to be built on the site of a World War II concentration camp for Roma and Sinti at Lety in the Písek area, which until recently housed a pig farm.

The winner of a competition to design the structure – which will have indoor and outdoor parts – is due to be announced next month, organisers the Museum of Romani Culture said on Tuesday.

The memorial should be opened in 2024.
