Síkela: Czech gas cap proposal meets EU states’ demands

The Czech minister of industry says the EU should prevent a repeat of this year’s record gas price hikes, but it depends on whether members are willing to agree on the conditions of such caps. Jozef Síkela made the comment ahead of an extraordinary meeting of EU industry ministers in Brussels on Tuesday.

The current Czech presidency of the EU has prepared a draft gas price cap taking into accounts the positions of all states, Mr. Síkela said. If no agreement is reached on Tuesday, ministers could do so at another meeting on Monday, he added.
