Czechia trying to finds EU consensus on gas price caps
Czechia, which holds the rotating EU Presidency, is trying to bring the long-divided member states to a consensus on gas price caps ahead of a meeting of energy ministers due to be held on Tuesday. Prague sent out a compromise proposal on the parameters of the price caps to the other 26 EU countries on Friday which strives to meet the demands of several dissatisfied countries. Although some diplomats say it is significantly more acceptable than the European Commission's original proposal, its approval by ministers is uncertain. The proposal would need to win support from a qualified majority of member states.
