Antonín Slavíček is considered one of the founding figures of Czech modern art, and a leading representative of Czech landscape painting. His distinct artistic style, mastering light and shadow, was derived from Impressionism. Although he died prematurely at the age of 39, he left behind a rich artistic legacy, most notably his expressive landscapes from the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands as well as scenes from Prague.
