Czechia considering bid to host UN's 2024 COP29 climate summit
Czechia is considering making a bid to host the UN’s COP29 climate summit in 2024, which would put it in contention with several other countries for the massive international conference, Deputy Environment Minister Jan Dusík told Reuters. Dusík said Czechia was weighing the logistical and financial challenges involved and would also consider a joint bid with another country from Eastern Europe. Hosting the UN climate event can bring a degree of international prestige and tourist income, but also intense media scrutiny, costs, and logistical problems.
