Krejčíková wins first singles trophy of year in Tallinn

The Czech tennis player Barbora Krejčíková has won her first singles title of 2022 in Tallinn.

Krejčíková, who was seeded seventh, overcame local favourite Anett Kontaveit of Estonia 6-2 6-3 in the inaugural Tallinn Open on Sunday.

It was the career fourth singles title in total for Krejčíková. The 26-year-old was previously known as a doubles specialist; she has taken six Grand Slam titles in doubles and has been world number one in that category.

Her success in Tallinn has seen Krejčíková jump four places in the singles rankings to 23.
