Rybičky 48 – best known Czech pop punk band celebrates 20 years on stage
The best-known Czech pop punk band Rybičky 48 is celebrating two decades on stage. The popular band will mark the anniversary with a special show in Prague’s O2 Arena this month, performing not only their biggest hits, but also some of their latest songs from their most recent album Jedeme dál.
The band Rybičky 48 were founded in the central-Bohemian town of Kutná Hora in 2002 under the name Banánové rybičky or Banana Fish. Its three core members are singer/bass guitarist Kuba Ryba, guitarist Petr Lebeda and drummer Ondra Štorek.
The band broke into the mainstream in 2005 after signing a contract with the famous Supraphon label and a year later they released their first album called Adios Embryos.
In their 20-year history, Rybičky 48 have released eight albums and played at over 1,000 concerts at home and abroad. In 2011, they were the support band at the Prague concert of The Offspring.
