Seventeen people injured after carousel collapses at funfair in Havířov

Seventeen people, mostly children, have been injured after a chair swing carousel collapsed at a funfair in Havířov, North Moravia on Saturday.

The structure with seats rode up the central column to a height of about 15 metres. Just as it was about to descend, the top section with the arms and seats broke off.

According to the police, most of the people suffered leg fractures after falling from a height of around 15 metres. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
