Transport ministry weighing changes to points system

The Czech Ministry of Transport is considering changes to the country’s points system for penalising bad driving, Czech Television reported. Officials are proposing revising the number of points for particular misdemeanours, including doubling the penalty for holding a mobile phone while at the wheel. There will be three categories of infringement, instead of the current five.

Another planned change is allowing people to drive from the age of 17. This would apply to teenagers who have passed driving school tests and are accompanied by a driver with 10 years experience and no penalty points.
