Kyiv Independent: Czech volunteers already fighting in Ukraine
Ukrainian journalist Ilya Ponomarenko of the Kyiv Independent tweeted a picture on Saturday which he said shows Czech volunteers fighting in Ukraine against Russian forces. The photo allegedly shows Czechs with weapons in the town of Irpin near Kiev.
Early in March, Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala and President Miloš Zeman Prime agreed to guarantee impunity to Czech nationals who want to go to Ukraine to fight alongside Ukrainians in defense of their country.
According to Czech law Czech nationals cannot enlist with a foreign army unless they get individual authorization from the president. Hundreds of individuals have already expressed interest in supporting the Ukrainian people in this way.
