Communist investigated for online admiration of Putin

Police are investigating Communist Party politician Zdeněk Ondráček after he expressed admiration for Vladimir Putin’s treatment of Ukraine on social media, the news site Neovlivni.cz reported. Mr. Ondráček wrote on Facebook on February 18 that he admired the Russian leader’s “patience” with what he called the “Ukrainian fascist rabble”.

The former MP was a member of the Communist-era Czechoslovak police and beat students during demonstrations in early 1989.
