Strong winds complicating traffic around Czechia

Strong winds of around 90 kilometres per hour have damaged power lines around the country leaving tens of thousands of people without electricity supplies on Thursday morning. The worst damage is reported in the Central Bohemia, Pilsen and Karlovy Vary regions.

Transport along several railway lines was disrupted and many roads were closed to traffic on Thursday morning due to fallen trees. Fire crews were called to nearly 400 emergencies in the course of Thursday morning.

A gale force wind alert remains in place until midnight for the whole of the country.
