MP Farský vacates seat in lower house

Jan Farský, vice-chairman of the governing Mayors and Independents party and a member of the Chamber of Deputies, gave up his seat in the lower house on Tuesday in response to criticism that he had accepted a six-month internship program in the United States during his term as a deputy. Mr. Farský said he had underestimated the problem and decided to resign his mandate rather than disappoint his family which had already made plans for the transfer. He said he would be staying in the States for eight months and would use his newly-acquired skills to the party’s best advantage when he returned. He will be replaced in the Chamber of Deputies by fellow party member Jarmila Levko, who headed the F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec.
