Constitutional Court rejects alternative conversion of votes into parliamentary seats
The Constitutional Court has rejected a proposition made by the Pirates and Mayors coalition to change how votes were converted into seats in the Chamber of Deputies, the Czech News Agency reported on Wednesday. The proposal was previously rejected also by the Supreme Administrative Court. The Constitutional Court stated that the proposal was rejected for process reasons.
The current system of conversion, led to the Pirate Party, which ran together with the Mayors and Independents in a coalition during the last elections into the Chamber of Deputies, to receive just three seats in the lower-house, this despite the fact that the coalition won 37 seats in total.
