Ex-energy regulator chief Vitásková to run for president

The former head of the Czech Republic’s Energy Regulation Office, Alena Vitásková, is to stand for president. The 65-year-old announced her decision in a statement issued on Tuesday, saying she would reveal more information at a later date.

The second term of incumbent Miloš Zeman is due to end early next year. Bookmakers say former prime minister Andrej Babiš is most likely to succeed him.
