Pile-up blocks traffic on D5 motorway 50km southwest of Prague

Some 20 cars and 16 lorries were involved in a pile-up stretching 150 metres on the D5 motorway when sudden snowfall on Thursday caused drivers to skid into each other.

The accident occurred about 50 kilometres southwest of Prague. At least five injured people were taken to hospital by helicopter or ambulance.

At around 4 p.m., a lane in the direction of Pilsen was reopened, while the lane heading towards Prague remained closed.
