Icy roads causing traffic problems around Czechia

Icy roads have been causing traffic problems and delays around Czechia since Monday evening. The D6 highway to Karlovy Vary was closed in both directions for several hours during the night following several pile-ups, in which 40 people were injured.

A heightened number of accidents are reported from all parts of the country with many bus connections delayed or cancelled. Ambulances in Prague have responded to calls from dozens of pedestrians who slipped and injured themselves on the ice.

Meteorologists have warned that Wednesday is expected to bring similar conditions, and have urged drivers and pedestrians to exercise extreme caution.
