Muchová, semi-finalist last time, to miss Australian Open

Czech tennis player Karolína Muchová has said she will not be taking part in the Australian Open next month. The 25-year-old reached the semi-finals in Melbourne in the last edition of the Grand Slam tournament.

Muchová said on social media that a stomach muscle injury that caused her to end her 2021 season in September had still not recovered sufficiently for her to make the Australian Open.

Czech number one Karolína Plíšková will also miss the competition, due to a broken arm.
