Coalition parties say they will stand behind all their ministerial nominees

The five parties in the nascent coalition government say they will stand firmly behind the nominees for ministerial posts in the new cabinet. The statement comes in response to reservations voiced by President Miloš Zeman with regard to one of the candidates. The president refused to say who the given nominee was, but noted that he had asked the country’s prospective prime minister, Petr Fiala, to find a new candidate for the post. There has been speculation in the media that the candidate in question is Jan Lipavský, from the Pirate Party, nominated for the post of foreign minister. President Zeman has in the past twice rejected nominees for the post of foreign minister.
