PM designate Fiala meets with President Zeman over new government
Prime Minister designate Petr Fiala met President Miloš Zeman on Thursday to discuss the next steps in appointing the new government, Mr Fiala wrote on his Twitter account.
The Czech head of state reportedly indicated that he would not under any circumstances name the government’s candidate for minister of foreign affairs, Pirate Party MP Jan Lipavský.
In an interview on Czech Television on Wednesday evening, Mr Fiala said he was ready to turn to the Constitutional Court should the president refuse to name any of the prospective ministers. Mr Fiala also said he didn’t plan on making any changes to the current list of ministerial camndidates.
