Legendary Slovak pop star Miroslav Žbirka dies at 69

Slovak-born pop music singer, composer, and guitarist Miroslav Žbirka, long resident in Prague, has died at the age of 69 from pneumonia.

Žbirka, known to fans as “Miro Žbiro”, was a major figure on the Czechoslovak pop scene for decades and the first Slovak to win the Golden Nightingale (Zlatý slavík) poll for best singer.
