Lucie Bílá overall winner in Czech Nightingale awards

Singer Lucie Bílá was the overall winner of the Czech Nightingale (Český slavík) awards in Prague on Saturday night. The top men’s prize went to Marek Ztracený, while Kabát triumphed in the group category of the competition, which is decided by a public poll.

Veteran singer and man of the theatre Jiří Suchý, who is 91, entered the Czech Nightingale Hall of Fame. The event took place at Forum Karlín.

The organisers said over two million votes had been cast, a new record. The competition was created in the early 1960s and was previously known as the Golden Nightingale (Zlatý slavík).
