Czech PM to visit ‘anti-migrant’ border fence in Hungary

Prime Minister Andrej Babiš began a two-day visit to Hungary on Wednesday. He is due to tour a guard tower along the 175-km long barbed wire border fence that his counterpart Viktor Orbán had built to prevent migrants from entry.

More than 400,000 people crossed Hungary in 2015 on their way towards Western Europe, in particular Germany. Hungarian authorities then built another anti-migrant wall along its border with Croatia.

According to the ČTK news agency, Mr Babiš is keen to see the thermal imaging camera system Hungary is using and will visit a guard tower at the Röszke border post. On Thursday, the Czech prime minister is due to attend a demography summit in Budapest.
