Football: Czech women celebrate victory against Cyprus in World Cup qualification
The Czech women’s national football team scored a runaway victory in the second game of World Cup qualification. On Tuesday, the team beat Cyprus by a score 8-0 in Liberec.
The Czech team have now taken the lead in the qualifying group, and stand four points ahead of the Netherlands. Belarus and Iceland are in third and fourth place, respectively.
For the 2023 World Cup to be held in Australia and New Zealand, the winners of the nine groups qualify directly, while runners-up must compete in play-offs.
