Czech women footballers defy expectations to draw with Dutch away

The Czech women’s football team achieved an upset on Friday night with a 1:1 draw against the Netherlands in Groningen in their opening game in qualification for the 2023 World Cup. Karel Rada’s charges led the game from just after half-time when Andrea Stašková opened the scoring, but the Dutch drew level with seven minutes remaining through Vivianne Miedema.

The Netherlands were runners-up in the last Women’s World Cup and are reigning European Champions.
