Vojtěch: Key Covid indicators give no reason for panic
The Czech minister of health, Adam Vojtěch, says there is no reason to panic over Covid-19 and that key indicators regarding the virus are currently acceptable. Speaking at a news conference on Monday, Mr. Vojtěch said the immunization of Czech society – due to both vaccinations and Covid infections – was currently making itself felt. He said the virus would spread far less this autumn than in the same period last year.
For his part the head of the Institute for Health Statistics, Ladislav Dušek, said that while the indicators were acceptable, the epidemic was still increasing in intensity. Mr. Dušek said that increases in Covid infection rates were predictable in view of the post-holidays return to school and work.
Minister Vojtěch also said people who were proven to have antibodies from a previous Covid infection could receive the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Those who have had Covid and have received two rounds of a vaccine will not require a third one, he said.
