Researchers develop simple test to identify people at risk of developing severe Covid infection

Researchers from the Faculty of Medicine at Charles University have developed a diagnostic method that shows whether a person with Covid-19 is at risk of a severe course of the disease. According to the team of researchers, the diagnostic procedure can be undertaken as part of a person’s PCR test. The risk is assessed according to the level of a particular biomarker in the blood sample. The university company GeneSpector Innovations has already filed for a patent application. According to researchers, laboratories could begin using the diagnostic method very soon.
