Frank-Walter Steinmeier: Czech-German relations could not be better
President Miloš Zeman has thanked his German counterpart Frank-Walter Steinmeier for his country’s support during the Covid-19 pandemic. He also praised his decision to visit the memorial of the Czechoslovak paratroopers who assassinated Reinhard Heydrich.
Speaking at a press conference after their meeting at Prague Castle on Thursday, Mr. Zeman said he agreed with the German president in their assessment of the situation in Afghanistan, but disagreed with him as regards the EU's environmental agenda.
Mr. Steinmaier praised the quality of Czech-German relations, which he said could not be better, stressing that it is essential that they remain so for future generations.
The two heads of state also discussed other issues, including a transport link between Prague and Munich and the regulation of the Elbe River.
