Karlovy Vary International Film Festival to open with biopic about Emil Zátopek
The 55th edition of the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival opens with a gala ceremony at the newly reconstructed Hotel Thermal on Friday night. Among the bright lights at the festival this year will be two-time Oscar winner Michael Caine, who will receive the festival’s Crystal Globe for lifetime’s contribution to world cinema at the gala opening, American actor, producer and musician Johnny Depp and the famous actor, writer and director Ethan Hawke.
The festival will open with a screening of director David Ondříček’s biopic about the legendary runner Emil Zátopek. It runs until August 28th and will screen around 200 films.
