Police in Ostrava searching for escaped crocodile

Police officers in Ostrava are searching for a meter-long crocodile that escaped from a private breeder on Saturday. Although the crocodile is not fully grown the police warn that after going without food for two days it could be dangerous. They have particularly warned dog and cat owners not to let their pets roam unattended. The crocodile, which escaped from a garden pond is of the Osteolaemus tetraspis species and according to experts it is likely to look for a water basin, or hide in shady, deciduous terrain.
