More soldiers to help tornado-devastated villages
The army is ready to send up to 1,000 soldiers to help in the tornado-devastated villages in South Moravia, Defence Minister Lubomir Metnar wrote on Twitter, confirming that the government had approved the army’s greater involvement in the clean-up work. So far 200 soldiers have been active in the region, and were mainly involved in the rescue effort. The tornado ripped through seven villages on the night of June 24, killing six people, injuring over 150 and causing billions of crowns in damages.
