České dráhy posts CZK 4.1bn loss in 2020 due to pandemic

Czech national railway operator České dráhy recorded a CZK 4.1 billion loss in 2020, mainly due to the coronavirus pandemic. The previous year, the company posted a CZK 1.3 billon profit, and has ended in the black ever year since 2014.

The pandemic mainly affected passenger traffic due to travel restrictions. But České dráhy’s freight transport subsidiary ČD Cargo and other subsidiaries also posted loses.
